How We Help When Clients Receive Palliative or Hospice Care
Light Housekeeping
We can help keep the house tidy, do laundry, and perform other household chores. A well-kept house is also important as it prevents accidents from occurring in the home.
Meal Preparation & Feeding
We can prepare nutritious and delicious meals based on the doctor’s recommendations and help with feeding assistance if required.
Companionship
We are here to support and listen. We provide companionship to ensure our clients never feel alone. This could mean playing a board game or just having a chat.
Medication Reminders
We can help with medications by ensuring compliance with prescribed orders. We can also pick up medications at the pharmacy when needed.
Health Monitoring
We are trained to recognize signs of discomfort or pain. If something is wrong, we will respond quickly to allow the client to receive the proper medical attention.
Entertainment
We can help our clients enjoy the things that make them smile. From reading a favorite story to assisting them as they paint a picture, we do everything possible to ensure the highest quality of life.
What Is the Difference Between Hospice and Palliative Care?
The terms hospice care and palliative care are often used synonymously, but they aren’t necessarily the same. Hospice care focuses on terminally-ill patients. Hospice is designed to provide comfort care and relief, which does sound very similar to palliative care.
Palliative care, however, can be provided to patients with or without curative options at all stages of disease. Hospice care aims to not only ease any pain the patient suffers but to provide support and prepare the family for the logistics and emotions that come at the end-of-life stage.
Hospice Care
Poor prognosis (6 months or less). Patients are no longer seeking curative treatments.
